Deuteronomy 5:18 commands fidelity within marriage; it guards purity and loyalty by honoring the sacred bond.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the law not as an external rule but as a state of consciousness. When the verse says, 'Neither shalt thou commit adultery,' it points to a condition of inner alignment. Adultery happens when your imagination or attention wanders from the oneness you affirm in the I AM. You are always the awareness that imagines your world; to commit adultery is to imagine yourself divided, to entertain a state of lack or self-concern that fractures fidelity. The covenant is not a contract among people but an inner pledge to unity: you and your companion are images within the one consciousness. By refusing to entertain the thought of separation, you return to the unity already present. Your job is to age into the feeling of loyalty, to live as if the vow you honor is the truth of your being. In practice, watch your inner images; when you catch a thought of betrayal, revise it to the reality that you are the faithful I AM, and the outer world will reflect that state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the feeling of fidelity as your present state. Revise any impulse toward betrayal by affirming, 'I am the I AM, faithful to the vow I hold.'
