Nearness Within, Inner Law

Deuteronomy 4:7-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 4 in context

Scripture Focus

7For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
8And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
Deuteronomy 4:7-8

Biblical Context

The verse asks which nation is great because God is near and has such righteous law. It proclaims that God's presence and the law define true greatness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider the 'nation' as the state of your own consciousness. When you call upon God, you declare that He is near; your very I AM becomes aware of His presence. The law mentioned is not parchment but the inner statutes written upon your heart by your own steadfast attention to truth. The question 'What nation is great?' becomes, in my practice, 'What state of awareness is conscious of God near and obedient to His right order in every moment?' In this light, the proximity of God is not a far geography but an instantaneous shift of being. When you live as one who calls upon Him in all matters, you reveal the covenant of loyalty—you keep faith with the divine idea by aligning your choices with inner law. Practice is to dwell in the sensation of presence until it feels permanent; to revise any sense of distance by affirming, 'I am now in the presence of God; my I AM is one with His.' If you persist, the outer scene arranges itself to reflect the inner reality.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the nation of God near; God is present now, and I call upon Him for guidance.' Feel the warmth of that presence in your chest and hold it for a minute, then proceed with your day.
