Inner Covenant of Well-Being

Deuteronomy 4:40 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 4 in context

Scripture Focus

40Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
Deuteronomy 4:40

Biblical Context

The verse exhorts you to keep the Lord's statutes so you and your children may prosper and live long in the land given by God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Your true 'statutes' and 'commandments' are inner laws of life—states of consciousness you choose and sustain. When you acknowledge them with I AM, you align your entire being with a pattern that brings well-being into form. Obedience, in this sense, is not external compliance but fidelity to the order within you: a settled feeling of harmony, stability, and gratitude. As you dwell in that inner alignment today, the vitality you seek becomes present now—not somewhere later, but here as your current condition. The 'days' you prolong are not days counted on a clock, but the continual life of awareness that refuses to fracture into worry or doubt. Your descendants and the world reflect your inner faith back to you; they mirror the reality you insist upon through imagination and feeling. So you can rest in the truth that the law operates through you when you honor it in consciousness. The old command becomes the living, breathing imagination: I am kept, and therefore I prosper.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, assume you are already kept by the inner law. Feel the present well-being as if it were your natural state, then let that feeling radiate outward.
