Inner Nations, Inner Return

Deuteronomy 28:49-50 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 28 in context

Scripture Focus

49The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
50A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
Deuteronomy 28:49-50

Biblical Context

Deuteronomy 28:49-50 depicts a distant nation coming as judgment; in Neville's view, this 'nation' is a state of consciousness invading your mind.

Neville's Inner Vision

The Lord's warning is a statement about the law of consciousness. The invading nation is not a foreign army but a mode of thought that rushes into your mind from the far end of your earth. Its tongue you cannot understand is the language of the old self—the habitual scripts you no longer recognize as you become aware of your I AM. The fierce countenance represents your own hard judgments and the harsh conclusions you entertain about yourself and life. The decree that it shall not regard the old nor show favor to the young is simply a scene in which your old self-image is not acknowledged; and yet you have the power to reframe it by assuming the presence of a new state. When you identify with the I AM, the prophecy dissolves—exile becomes a temporary misalignment, and return is your natural state. You are the nation; you are the eagle that flies swift when you shift your inner disposition; the outer condition merely mirrors your inner act.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state you desire as already real; revise one current limitation by silently declaring 'I am the state I seek' and feel it real through your breath for 60 seconds.
