The Inner Altar Of Stones
Deuteronomy 27:5-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 27 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Deuteronomy 27:5-8 describes building an altar of unhewn stones, offering burnt and peace offerings, and writing the law plainly on the stones. It locates worship in a place of remembrance and communal rejoicing before God.
Neville's Inner Vision
I see this as a map for inner life, not distant ritual. The altar of stones is my mind's fixed convictions, set in stone and unaltered by iron tools of fear or force. When I offer burnt offerings and peace offerings in my imagination, I bless my being and awaken joy before the I AM within. Writing the words of the law on the stones becomes my practice of fixing the guiding decree into memory, so every circumstance echoes the inner covenant I have chosen. This is a method to renew perception: I dwell in the inner altar, feel gratitude, and celebrate as if the divine feast is already mine. The LORD thy God is present as the I AM, my constant awareness, and all outward events reflect that harmony.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and picture an altar of stones in your mind. State your personal inner decree on the stones and feel the joy of living in harmony with it, as if you were feasting before your God.
