Deuteronomy 24:6-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 24 in context

Scripture Focus

6No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge.
7If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
Deuteronomy 24:6-7

Biblical Context

The passage guards the life and dignity of a person, forbidding coercive pledges and the sale of a fellow Israelite. It calls for justice by removing evil from among you.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the theater of your consciousness, the Deuteronomy decree is the Law of Life in the I AM. To pledge a man’s life, or treat another as merchandise, is to pledge your own life to fear and lack. The millstone represents a heavy belief that one’s freedom depends on another’s bondage. When you imagine coercing or owning another, you reveal a mind severed from its Source; true justice is the protection of life and freedom in every thought. The command to 'put evil away from among you' becomes an invitation to clear your inner city of greed, judgment, and self-serving control. See each person as living by the same divine law; refuse to reduce anyone to a means. By aligning your imagination with this unity, you revoke the illusion of separation and open the flow of life. Your responsibility is to preserve the integrity of life in your own mind, thereby making real the world where no one is pledged or exploited.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and assume the feeling that no one’s life can be pledged away by your thoughts. In a moment, imagine yourself living as the I AM, protecting and restoring life in every situation.
