Remembering Redemption, Obedient Heart

Deuteronomy 24:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 24 in context

Scripture Focus

18But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the LORD thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing.
Deuteronomy 24:18

Biblical Context

The verse invites you to recall Israel's bondage in Egypt and God's redemption. It grounds present obedience in that remembered mercy.

Neville's Inner Vision

Think of the bondage in Egypt as a state of consciousness you once wore, the sense that you were kept captive by limitation. The redemption is the awakening of the I AM within, the realization that you are already free in awareness. The command to do this thing is a summons to live from that redeemed state, to align every action with the inner covenant you now know as your true self. When you remember, you reverse your condition: present choices become the outward proof of an inward liberation. The past serves as memory that fuels a new habit, not as a chain to drag you down. Your motive shifts from fear of punishment to gratitude for mercy; your memory becomes a compass directing consistent obedience to the inner law of love and integrity. As you dwell in the feeling of the redeemed self, the world around you begins to reflect that state. The inner act of obedience is simply remaining aware of I AM and allowing that awareness to govern your thoughts, words, and deeds.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and recall a present limitation as inner bondage, then revise it with I AM redeemed now and feel the gratitude. Do one concrete action today that expresses this state of obedience to your inner law.
