Inner Covenant Reframed

Deuteronomy 23:2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 23 in context

Scripture Focus

2A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 23:2

Biblical Context

Plainly, the verse declares exclusion from the LORD's congregation for one judged illegitimate. Neville would reinterpret this as an inner belief that you are separate, and the cure is to revise your state of consciousness until you feel wholly included by the I AM.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM, the 'bastard' is any fragment of self that feels unworthy to partake of divine life. The congregation is not a gate to a temple so much as the coherence of your own consciousness—the harmony you allow or deny within. To say a person cannot enter is to declare that a portion of your being is outside the one presence you know as God. The moment you awaken to the truth that the I AM includes all you believe to be excluded, the inner barrier dissolves. The law of imagination tells us that your state of consciousness is the only reality; a yet-to-enter state is simply a belief awaiting revision. Therefore, you do not fight the gate; you change your assumption about who you are in relation to God. Restore unity by imagining yourself already present, accepted, and in God’s circle, and let the feeling of belonging condition your outer circumstances.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and revise: 'I am included in the Lord's congregation now.' Feel the warmth of belonging in your chest until the sensation becomes real.
