Domestic Priorities Before Battle
Deuteronomy 20:5-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage says that before going to battle, any man who has a new house, a vineyard he has not yet eaten from, or a betrothal should return home to safeguard those domestic commitments. The point is to honor existing inner foundations before acting outwardly.
Neville's Inner Vision
Observe that the officers are expressions of your I AM, the seat of awareness that names you as the I that you are. A 'new house' is a fresh state of consciousness you have pictured but not yet consecrated by feeling. A 'vineyard' is the fruit of that imagining—what you have planted but not yet enjoyed. A 'betrothed wife' is a commitment of the heart to a future condition you intend to dwell in. The instruction to return home before the battle is not a parable about war; it is a law of inward alignment: secure your inner dependencies, finish what you have begun in imagination, or the outer correction will be paid in sorrow. When you dwell in the I AM as the one who already possesses, you are not delaying your exodus from lack; you are inviting the inner reality to govern the outer. The outer scene will follow as you have settled the inner before you act.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and, in feeling, dedicate the house, harvest the fruit of your vineyard, and claim the marriage of your desire; then move forward as if those inner commitments are already yours.
