Inner Prophet Rising
Deuteronomy 18:16-18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 18 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Israel asked not to hear God's voice at Horeb, and God replies by promising to raise up a prophet from among their brethren who will speak His words.
Neville's Inner Vision
From Neville's vantage, the scene reveals not a distant covenant but the life of your own consciousness. The voice of the LORD is the I AM within, and the people's fear is your fear of direct revelation some will resist. God's reply is an inner arrangement: I will raise up a Prophet from among their brethren, and I will put My words in his mouth; he shall speak all that I command. In your terms, that Prophet is the self you are becoming, formed from the same substance as Moses, but arising from your inner states—brethren among you. The words in his mouth are your inner speech, the imaginal conversation by which you command your life. When you hear him, you hear law not as external doctrine but as living instruction spoken through you. If you refuse the voice, you prolong fear; if you assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled and permit the inner command to govern your acts, the outer scene must answer. The prophet within is your future voice, already obeying the divine word within your own I AM.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In a quiet moment, assume that the inner prophet is speaking your desired outcome; vividly hear his words and feel the authority of their command as if it is already true.
