Inner Idols and The I Am Discipline
Deuteronomy 17:2-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
If someone breaks the covenant and worships other gods, they are to be found and judged after due witnesses. The aim is to remove the evil from among you.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Neville, Deuteronomy's drama reveals a current in your own heart. The man or woman who has wrought wickedness is not a distant criminal but a state of mind, an idol you have treated as real, a belief that life comes from some power outside your I Am. When such a belief appears within thy gates, observe it without guilt and ask what god you serve in this moment. The covenant is your present alignment with divine consciousness; to worship other gods is to yield to imaginal powers, sun, moon, or host of heaven, imagined sources of life, pleasure, fear, or control. The two or three witnesses are the inner checks, consistently testing your state until you recognize inconsistency. When you see the idol is present, you stone it by revoking its power through revision inside: declare that you and the I Am are one, and that no idol governs your life. The community action then becomes your inner cleansing, so that the true light of God within shines unhindered.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Notice an idol like belief today, then revise by quietly declaring that you are the I Am and that this idol has no power over you. Feel the truth of unity and let that feeling settle.
