Biblical Context
Deuteronomy 15:19–20 speaks of setting apart the firstborn of your herd and flock to the Lord, and eating it before God in the place the Lord chooses, year by year.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through Neville Goddard's lens, this law becomes a map of inner life. The 'firstlings' are your freshest, most alive states of consciousness—those impulses and ideas you would express when fully present. 'Sanctify' them to the Lord thy God means consecrate them to the I AM within, not to outward labor. 'Do no work with the firstling' invites you to refrain from bending or exhausting your prime state through force; let it remain intact, undiluted by doubt. 'Thou shalt eat it before the Lord' is the invitation to dwell in and savor that perfected state, acknowledging that it is already true in you when you imagine it. 'Year by year' signals a repeated practice, a daily feast that reaffirms the inner sanctuary you choose. The 'place which the Lord shall choose' is the inner focal point of awareness, not a temple in space, and 'thou and thy household' expands to your whole mind—the thoughts you entertain as a family of consciousness. Your practical faith is not in external rites but in the felt certainty of the I AM here and now.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume your highest state is sanctified to the I AM. Then feast on its presence for a minute, letting that felt sense permeate your day.
