Deuteronomy 13:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 13 in context

Scripture Focus

8Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
Deuteronomy 13:8

Biblical Context

Deuteronomy 13:8 commands you to refuse all consent, listening, pity, sparing, or concealment of a seducer. It establishes a strict boundary against influences that would lead you astray from obedience.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, the word speaks to your inner court. When the 'him' comes as a tempting image—a lure to bow to another god or to abandon the path—you must refuse to consent, to listen, or to pity. In your inner world, to spare, conceal, or overlook is to give energy to the illusion; to do so is to allow a scene to persist in your dream of life. But you are not a passive witness; you are the I AM, the self-aware presence that births all experience. The true 'God' within stands in judgment over every projection, and by your decisive rejection you cut off the source of the dream. The closing of your eyes to the image is not cruelty, but clarity; it is waking from sleep. When you firmly say, 'I do not consent to that thought; I do not listen to that image; I AM the sole ruler of my inner world,' you seal the boundary and watch the image dissolve, returning you to the one real state: the consciousness of I AM.

Practice This Now

Assume the role of the watcher and declare, I AM; I do not consent to that image. Then revise by turning away from the temptation and feeling the reality of God as your true self.
