Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Deuteronomy 13:3 commands you not to heed a certain prophet or dreamer, for God tests whether you love Him with all your heart and soul. The passage points to an inner standard of loyalty rather than outward signs.
Neville's Inner Vision
Deuteronomy 13:3 is not a warning about some external oracle, but a summons to the inner state you carry. The prophet and the dreamer are not persons to chase outside you; they are thoughts, impressions, and pictures that would lure your attention away from the I AM within. God is your I AM, and He tests you by presenting appearances that tempt you to place trust in signs rather than in your own unwavering loyalty. Your love for the LORD is not proven by dramatic results but by the steadiness of your inner allegiance when those dramatic words arise. When you hear the voice of 'that prophet' or 'that dreamer,' refuse to grant it power over your mind. If you find yourself wavering, revise the state you inhabit: assume you are already loving God with all your heart and soul; feel the confidence of the I AM as your only reality; let the feelings of peace and fidelity rise as a done deal in your consciousness. The test is a doorway: step through by remaining faithful to your inner covenant, regardless of outward signs.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and dwell in the sense of being loyal to the I AM. Then revise by declaring, 'I love the LORD my God with all my heart and soul,' feeling that loyalty as already done.
