Biblical Context
When rumors reach you that some have turned away to other gods, you must investigate thoroughly and verify the truth before acting.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the realm of consciousness, the city you inhabit is your inner state. The report of idol worship is a belief moving through your mind; the 'children of Belial' are thoughts that entice you away from the I AM within. Before you act on judgment, you are called to inquire, search, and confirm what is true in your mind. This is not about condemning others, but about cleansing your own lands by loyal attention to the sovereign Presence within. If a rumor of foreign worship arises, you revise the story by reaffirming that the I AM governs your city, and you feel the certainty of this truth until it becomes your habitual atmosphere. The only 'abomination' is a belief that breaks unity with God. By investigating within, you convert potential chaos into a temple of disciplined awareness, where loyalty to the one God becomes your automatic response to every moment.
Practice This Now
Assume the city of your mind is governed by the I AM. When a distracting thought or fear surfaces, inquire within: 'Is this truly mine to serve, or is it a restless rumor?' Dwell in the I AM until you feel the ruling presence, then revise the belief and affirm, 'I am the Lord your God' in this mental city.
