Inner Prophet Test of Faith
Deuteronomy 13:1-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 13 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage warns not to follow a prophet or dreamer who offers signs that would lead you to other gods. It teaches that God tests your love by your obedience and loyalty to Him.
Neville's Inner Vision
Imagine the 'prophet' not as a man but as a state of mind, a dreamer of dreams that would lure you to other gods—greed, fear, reputation, separation. If such a sign appears and your heart cries, 'let us go after them,' know this is the test: the I AM within asks, do you love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul? In this approach, the true sign is not external; it is your present alignment. When you are fully identified with the awareness that you are the I AM expressing as you, no other impulse can override your unity. The moment you feel pulled toward another god, revise, 'I choose to walk after the LORD my God'; feel the loyalty in your chest, not in your thoughts. The God who brought you out of bondage is the same I AM here now, directing your steps. The command to keep His voice becomes an inner order: you obey the voice of awareness, you cleave to it, you serve it, and you do not deviate into illusion. Thus the so-called evil is a misalignment you correct by inner choice and feeling, restoring your oneness with God.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and assume you are the I AM, fully identified with God in this moment. When a distracting impulse or sign arises, revise by saying 'I choose to walk after the LORD my God' and feel the loyalty in your chest as if it's done.
