Resting in Inner Inheritance

Deuteronomy 12:9-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Deuteronomy 12 in context

Scripture Focus

9For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
10But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
Deuteronomy 12:9-10

Biblical Context

The verse says the people have not yet reached rest or inheritance. Rest comes when they cross into the land and dwell in safety.

Neville's Inner Vision

The passage is not about a geography alone but a map of consciousness. Rest and inheritance are inner states you awaken, not places you arrive at in time. You are already the I AM, the consciousness that feels 'at rest' and safe. The Jordan crossing is the moment you stop bargaining with old stories of limitation and step into the present awareness that God is within. The land you inherit is the kingdom of God within, a steady dwelling in safety, free from the slings of fear and the noise of doubt. When you realize that 'enemies round about' are only thoughts, rest from them comes as your inner decision to reside in one state: the I AM, which gives you rest from all agitation. Covenant loyalty is fidelity to this inner awareness, not to external rites; the presence of God is here now as your own awareness. In this sense, the promise is now: you dwell in safety and in your true inheritance, the unshakable peace of God within.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine you are already dwelling in the land of rest; feel the safety as the I AM within you. Affirm to yourself: I have entered the rest and inheritance now.
