Inner Tithe Practice
Deuteronomy 12:17-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Deuteronomy 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage says you cannot eat the tithe within your gates; you must eat it before the LORD at the place He will choose, with your family and the Levite, and you should rejoice. It also admonishes not to forsake the Levite as long as you live.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Neville view, the gates are the thresholds of your daily life, the outward self guarding its possessions. The tithe is not money but attention given to the inner life. To eat the tithe before the LORD thy God is to enthrone awareness, to live in a state where your entire being feasts in the presence of the I AM. The chosen place is the inner sanctuary, the field within where your consciousness rests in quiet trust. You, your son, your daughter, your servants, and the Levite within your gates represent the totality of your being gathered in unity before the divine feast. When you “rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto,” you practice gratitude as a mode of being, not a mere emotion. The warning “take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite” becomes a reminder to nurture your inner priest—the steady consciousness that remembers the Kingdom within. The outer acts of giving are symbolic of inner acts of devotion; the true covenant loyalty is fidelity to this inner temple, where all offerings are accepted by the I AM.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly and declare, 'This inner place is holy ground; I feast on the offerings of my attention now.' Envision the Levite within lifting your heart in gratitude as you align with the I AM.
