Inner Warfare in Daniel 8:11-12

Daniel 8:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Daniel 8 in context

Scripture Focus

11Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
12And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
Daniel 8:11-12

Biblical Context

Daniel 8:11-12 shows a power that grows by undermining worship. It removes the daily sacrifice and casts truth to the ground, yet its success is temporary.

Neville's Inner Vision

From the Neville lens, the 'he' who magnifies himself is the rising sense of self-importance in your consciousness, the ego that believes it can control rites and appearances. The 'prince of the host' is the stray thought that you must perform to be acceptable, and the 'daily sacrifice' is your daily attention to the truth of your being. When this inner discipline is cast down, truth is driven from awareness and you witness thoughts of power prospering on the surface. Yet the script does not indict you; it reveals the mechanism of your own mind. The remedy is simple: reverse the assumption. Assume you are the I AM, the author of the inner temple, and that your worship is the recognition of your unity with God. Feel the truth replacing fear; see the sanctuary restored within, not by changing externals but by changing what you hold to be real in consciousness. In doing so, the supposed oppression dissolves, and truth begins to prosper again in your inner life.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and affirm, 'I am the I AM; this inner sanctuary cannot be overthrown.' Then, feel the truth as real and reigning in your consciousness.
