Biblical Context
Daniel is clothed in scarlet and made the third ruler; that night Belshazzar is slain, and Darius the Median takes the kingdom.
Neville's Inner Vision
Daniel's rise is not a page in history but a symbol of the inner royal order of consciousness. Belshazzar's pomp—scarlet cloak and gold chain—represents a vivid but externalized self-image, a false sense of status that the mind wears before it sees. The proclamation that Daniel will rule from the third seat mirrors the inner conviction that the I AM (the inner king) can occupy the throne over the entire inner domain. The night of Belshazzar's fall signals that the old dream of control by mere appearances dissolves when the inner sight awakens. The accession of Darius the Median who takes the kingdom indicates a new order arising under disciplined awareness. You are told, in your own life, that authority can move from outward reputation to the inward recognition of I AM, and a true regime change occurs when you stop giving power to fear, pride, or appearances. The outer events in the verse thus echo an inner transformation: the moment you accept the sovereign I AM within, your 'kingdom' shifts and new leadership appears, unseen but operative in your thoughts and feelings.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling of the I AM on the throne of your inner kingdom. See Daniel clothed in scarlet as your awareness clothed with vitality, and silently declare, I reign now, in this inner realm, while releasing Belshazzar's pride and letting the old kingdom pass away.
