Biblical Context
Belshazzar is reminded that the Most High God rules kingdoms and that pride leads to downfall. The writing Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin declares that his kingdom is numbered, weighed, and divided.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within this tale you are Belshazzar, in your own dream of power. The 'Most High' is the I AM that rules your inner kingdom. When your heart lifts with pride, you step out of harmony with that inner ruler, and your outer life begins to falter—the vision dims, the breath tightens, and the sense of purpose dulls. The writing is not a threat but a mirror: Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin becomes your reminder that the inner state creates the outer scene. Mene means your world has been numbered and finished in its present form; tekel, you are weighed against the ideal you entertain; peres, the kingdom is divided when you refuse unity with the One. Yet this is Providence in action: the moment of awareness comes to turn you back to the inner ruler. By revising the story in imagination, by feeling as if the kingdom already belongs to you, you discover that the decree is not punishment but correction, restoring you to your rightful alignment with God within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and declare I am the ruler of my inner kingdom, governed by the I AM. Assume the state of already possessing your kingdom and revise any belief of lack by silently saying the kingdom is mine now until it feels real.
