The Inner Image of Worship
Daniel 3:1-7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Nebuchadnezzar's image stands as an outward idol demanding worship, with pressure to conform and a penalty for those who refuse.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the image Nebuchadnezzar raised as a belief you have allowed to rule your attention. The crowd gathering and the herald's trumpet are the clamor of public opinion, the 'sound' through which you are urged to bow to something outside yourself. Yet the true king in you is the I AM, the unchanging awareness that witnesses every thought and feeling. When you identify with the image, you align with fear, scarcity, or reputation; when you refuse, you acknowledge that you are not the image but the warden of your inner domain. The fiery furnace becomes a fiery test of persistence—a heat of contradiction that purifies belief until only the Self remains. If you stand in the truth of the I AM, the image cannot define you; it dissolves as you withdraw your energy from it, creating a space where the divine presence is visible. In this view, the three youths do not escape a furnace; they awaken to the fact that their true allegiance is to the inner king, not to any outer idol.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I AM the King over all my thoughts and appearances.' See the golden image shimmer and then crumble as you remain rooted in your I AM.
