Neville's Inner Vision
Daniel 11:36 speaks of a king who acts by his own will, exalts himself above every god, and speaks marvellous things against the God of gods—yet prospering only until the indignation is accomplished. In the counsel of consciousness, the king is your ego when you identify with a sense of separate power. The God of gods is your higher Self—the I AM within you. When the ego magnifies itself, it projects a reality you mistake for law; yet this prospering is temporary while you cling to the illusion. The verse invites you to recognize that the outward world is but the theatre of inner states. The true ruler is the inner I AM, who never leaves the unity of being. To break the spell, revise your sense of self from a separated doer to the one I AM person who speaks and acts as God within. When you assume that presence, the ego's voice loses its hold, and the law of your consciousness returns you to alignment with the divine. The indignation is simply the friction of old self-will yielding to a higher truth. Do not resist; yield to the inner king, and your external world will follow.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, assume the feeling of the I AM as the sole ruler of your world. Revise the ego's claim to independent power and dwell in the inner king until separation fades.
