Biblical Context
Colossians 3:5-8 calls you to mortify earthly passions and to put off anger, malice, and dirty talk, choosing a higher, purer life instead.
Neville's Inner Vision
Paul's words reveal a simple law of inner conquest: mortify the lower states by refusing to identify with them and return your attention to the I AM that you truly are. The 'members' are not limbs to be controlled but patterns of consciousness—impulses toward unclean desire, anger, malice, and blasphemy—habits you feed by thought. The wrath of God comes not as punishment but as the natural outcome of living from that lower self. So you are urged to 'put off' these things now by a decisive shift of awareness. Do not fight the impulses as if they were separate from you; you dissolve them by declaring, here and now, that you are the living I AM, and that these old vibrations have become irrelevant. When you identify with your higher self, the old life no longer governs you; you begin to act from peace, purity, and integrity. This is inner remodeling: a change of consciousness that expresses as new conduct. Do not wait for change to arrive from without; embody the truth in consciousness and the outer world will follow.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes, breathe into the I AM, and imagine the old urges dissolving like mist. Then affirm, 'I am the I AM,' and feel a tranquil, pure presence establishing itself in place of the former cravings.
