Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Colossians 3:12-17 invites believers to clothe themselves with mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. It also calls for forgiving one another, embracing charity, and letting the peace of God rule while the word of Christ dwells richly among them.
Neville's Inner Vision
Colossians 3:12-17 is a map of the inner wardrobe. You are the elect of God, holy and beloved, and these virtues are states of consciousness you may assume now. Bowels of mercy become the inward mood of your being; kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering are the textures of your awareness. When you forbear and forgive, you release the image of separation and acknowledge Christ as your own awareness forgiving you. Above all, clothe yourself in charity, which binds all the facets of your character into unity. Let the peace of God rule in your heart, for you are called into one body within your mind, and gratitude confirms your alignment with that unity. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, not as external reading but as an ongoing inner discourse: a psalm here, a hymn there, a song of grace within the heart toward the Lord. In every deed, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus, knowing that you are invoking your higher self into action and returning thanks to God.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine you are wearing a radiant robe of mercy and charity. See a quarrel with someone dissolve as you forgive them in your imagination, then softly say, I forgive and release, and feel the peace and gratitude rise in you.
