Read Colossians 3 in context

Scripture Focus

1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
Colossians 3:1-2

Biblical Context

You are risen with Christ; seek the things above and set your mind on heavenly realities rather than earthly concerns.

Neville's Inner Vision

To be risen with Christ is not a distant event; it is your current state of consciousness. The command to seek those things above invites you to migrate your attention from what is grounded in the body and the day to the reality that exists as awareness. The right hand of God is your own inner sense, your I AM, the throne where all states are chosen. When you set your affection on things above, you are not escaping life; you are embracing the life that already lives in you. Picture the heavenly as your native atmosphere, and feel your desire as already granted. The verse asks you to revise the self-image: I am risen with Christ, therefore I dwell in the experiential truth of that ruling thought. In practice, cultivate a persistent mood of gratitude and a vivid image of harmony, and let imagined scenes rehearse your new state until it feels natural. In time, your outward circumstances reflect the inner risen life you have assumed.

Practice This Now

Practice: close your eyes and assume the risen-with-Christ state, feeling the right-hand-of-God awareness within you as your constant atmosphere. Sit with that image for a few minutes, allowing higher thoughts to replace ordinary reactions, and notice your day responding from that inner elevation.
