The Head Within Colossians 2

Colossians 2:18-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Colossians 2 in context

Scripture Focus

18Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
19And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
20Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
21(Touch not; taste not; handle not;
22Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
23Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Colossians 2:18-23

Biblical Context

Paul warns against being beguiled by voluntary humility and angel-worship, and against practicing human ordinances; true life comes from holding to the Head and living from inner God-consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Notice Colossians 2:18-23 through the I AM, and you begin to see the subtle trap of voluntary humility and angel-worship as projections of a restless mind. The true worship is not a ceremony but alignment of consciousness: holding to the Head, the Life that nourishes every joint and sinew. When you identify with the Head, you are no longer governed by the rudiments of the world or by man-made ordinances; you are dead to their power because you live from a higher organ of perception—the inner state called God-consciousness. The 'will worship' and the boast of humility are forms of ego seeking control; discernment arises when you rest in the unmodified I AM and let the body be fed by that Life. As you dwell in this Head-centered awareness, you will find external rules dissolve in your experience, replaced by the steady growth of life within. The verse points to a spiritual biology: true growth occurs as the inner body is knit together by divine nourishment, increasing in proportion to your awareness of God within.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, close your eyes, and declare, 'I am the Head; I live as God-consciousness.' Feel the life flow through you and revise any rule-bound impulse by resting in the I AM.
