Biblical Context
Colossians 1:5 speaks of a hope laid up in heaven, heard through the truth of the gospel. That hope is an inner certainty, ready to be claimed in consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
To the inner student, Colossians' phrase 'the hope laid up for you in heaven' is not a distant deposit but a treasure in your own awareness. Heaven is the field of your I AM—the living, continuous consciousness in which every future wish is already true. The 'word of the gospel' is not news from outside but the inner word you hear when you align with truth; it declares that your redeemed state already exists in your present self-image. When you hear that gospel, you are hearing your higher self revise the belief about time and space. Your present sense of lack is simply a momentary forgetfulness of what is already stored in consciousness. By choosing to identify with the completed state—feeling the wish as if it is done—you invite the outer world to reflect that inner reality. Your task is to practice the revision until the heart resonates with certainty, then watch as circumstances align with your inner holding.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and imagine the inner parcel of hope arriving in your awareness; repeat the revision, 'I am now living in the heaven of my fulfilled hope,' until the feeling saturates your being.
