Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Colossians 1:18-19 states that Christ is the head of the body and that fullness dwells in him, so God may have preeminence in all things. It points to a present reality of inner unity between the believer’s awareness and divine life.
Neville's Inner Vision
Read as a declaration about your own inner state, these verses insist that the Christ within is the head of the body of your life. The 'church' becomes your daily awareness, the locus where the I AM presides. When it is written that the Father was pleased that fullness dwells in him, you are invited to translate that into your own experience: fullness dwells in your consciousness right now, not as a distant doctrine but as your present possibility. The 'beginning' and the 'firstborn from the dead' speak of a new birth of awareness—the moment you stop identifying with lack or separation and begin to identify with the living Head. In this frame, preeminence means nothing is allowed to outrank the ruling Presence within. Every thought, feeling, and action is governed by this inner Head, and in that governing, the whole of God’s plenitude expresses as your life. You are not asking God to come; you are recognizing that God is already the ruling I AM within you, and your world will align accordingly when you rest there.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Assume the state 'I am the head of my body, the life I live is the life of the Christ within.' Rest there for a few minutes, feeling fullness circulating through thoughts and emotions.
