Listening to the Inner Word
Amos 7:16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Amos 7 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
A human authority tries to silence the prophet Amos, but the LORD within demands that truth be spoken; the message persists beyond opposition.
Neville's Inner Vision
When you read the verse, you are learning that true prophecy arises not from external authority but from the I AM that you are. Places and rulers in the text are inner dispositions and habits of mind. The call to silence reveals the pull of habit to resist a larger truth that will change the moment you change your inner state. The command to hear becomes an invitation to awaken to consciousness as the source of all events. Your awareness is the LORD; your imagination is the means by which prophecy is born into form. When Amaziah tries to shut down the word, you practice staying with the lived sensation of being the I AM, not the voice of limitation. The verse teaches that the outer voice cannot terminate the inner word when you maintain alignment with your essential self. Prophesying is simply declaring what your state already accepts as real; you rewrite your world by revising how you feel about what you are.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and say, I am hearing the word of the LORD within me now; I revise my state to align with that truth and feel it real.
