Called From The Flock Within

Amos 7:14-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Amos 7 in context

Scripture Focus

14Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
Amos 7:14-15

Biblical Context

Amos states he was not a prophet by birth, yet the LORD called him when he followed the flock to prophesy to Israel.

Neville's Inner Vision

Amos teaches that calling is not a title but a movement of consciousness. He says, I was no prophet, yet the LORD took me as I followed the flock and said, Go prophesy to my people Israel. In Neville's sense, the 'I' that speaks is your I AM, the awareness that outpictures itself as your life. The shepherding is your attention, the flock your habits and beliefs. When you move with that flock in quiet trust, God selects you for a role you may not have sought—to utter truth from within. Prophesying is not predicting events but proclaiming the reality you choose to inhabit. Address your inner Israel—the sentences of your mind, the cabins of fear and faith, the aspirations you hold about yourself. The moment you hear the call, you answer by assuming the authority of the witness inside: I am the voice of God here; I am moved to speak what is real to me. Your vocation thus arises from inner alignment, not outward pedigree.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and imagine you are Amos listening to the inner call. Declare, I am the voice of God here; I will speak truth to my inner Israel.
