Inner Judgment in Amos 6:8
Amos 6:8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Amos 6 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God swears by Himself that He abhors Jacob's pride and hates his palaces, promising to deliver the city with all it contains. Outward security, the verse says, rests on inner conditions rather than on external splendor.
Neville's Inner Vision
To hear Amos 6:8 through the I AM is to hear an inner vow spoken by consciousness. The 'excellency of Jacob' and the 'palaces' are not merely places but images of a mind clinging to form. The Lord God swears by Himself because the witness within cannot be shaken by outward appearances. Pride, wealth, and status are the ego's shadows cast on the screen of life; when you identify with the I AM, you shift your center from the drama of 'I am this' or 'I am that' to the simple fact of awareness. Delivery of the city is the consequence of a deep inner alignment rather than punishment. As you acknowledge the inner governor—your true Self—the need to defend position fades and the outer scene rearranges to match the new interior posture. The admonition becomes a doorway: awaken from the belief that you are defined by your palaces. In that awakening, judgment is the dawning of a stable, aware life that commands experience rather than chase it.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit in quiet and declare, 'I AM the I AM,' until it feels true. Let the sense of pride loosen and watch the outer city fade as your inner state asserts itself.
