Read Amos 3 in context

Scripture Focus

9Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.
Amos 3:9

Biblical Context

Amos 3:9 calls you to expose the inner centers of power and to observe the tumults and oppression that reside within your own consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the book of Amos, the summons to publish in Ashdod and Egypt and to assemble on the mountains of Samaria is a call to awareness. These places are not distant lands but states of mind; Ashdod and Egypt are beliefs you have accepted as law within your psyche. When you gather on the mountains of Samaria, you stand at the vantage point of watchfulness, seeing the inner tumults and the oppressed feelings you have denied. The great upheavals are not external judgments but your own charged thoughts, fears, and guilt. Judgment and accountability arise when you stop justifying inward injustice with respectable excuses. The promise lies in turning attention through imagination to heal these conditions. By affirming that you, I AM, can observe and revise, you reverse the pattern: the oppressor becomes a signal to awaken; the oppressed is welcomed into your awareness as the discarded self seeking inclusion. Your inner kingdoms are ripe for transformation by awareness and the imaginative power you wield.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit in stillness, assume you are the observer of your inner palaces, and revise one oppressed belief by affirming I am awareness; oppression dissolves into justice, then feel it as real.
