Inner Adversary and Release
Amos 3:11-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Amos declares that a surrounding power will strike at Israel’s strength and palaces, removing security from near the people. The imagery shows the removal of prized outer supports, signaling a change that reveals the heart’s true state.
Neville's Inner Vision
Amos speaks not to a city alone but to a state of consciousness that clings to outer power—the so‑called palaces of security built in the bed and couch of habit. The Lord around the land is the awareness that envelops a mind that trusts form more than its own I AM. The adversary is the chorus of doubts that makes you feel small, and when such beliefs are humbled, your strength is removed from its apparent throne and the comforts of ego become spoiled. The shepherd pulling from the mouth of the lion—two legs or a piece of an ear—speaks of stripping away the stubborn fragments of identity attached to the drama of survival, parts you thought you must have to be safe. Yet the verse invites you to see that when you stop seeking outer fortresses, you discover inner security: your I AM, your unconditioned awareness, which cannot be harmed by change. In that realization, old patterns lose the hold of exile and your mind rests in a freedom that was always present within you.
Practice This Now
Assume the I AM surrounds your mind now, and revise the belief in external power. Feel the release as real and let the old defenses fade.
