Inner Judgment and Return
Amos 3:10-12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Amos 3 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Amos declares that those who store violence and theft will face surrounding judgment that weakens their power and spoils their inner strongholds; the lion image symbolizes removing part of an old self as Israel’s self-image is exposed.
Neville's Inner Vision
In the Neville Goddard vein, this passage speaks to states of consciousness rather than distant lands. The 'they' who 'know not to do right' are the stubborn inner dispositions that justify harm. The 'palaces' symbolize inner fortresses built on fear, control, and self-importance. The Lord’s surrounding adversary represents the way our thoughts of limitation encircle and govern our life when we align with fear rather than the I AM. The spoil of strength and the destruction of palaces are not punitive but the natural upheaval that occurs when interior conditions no longer sustain the old dream. The image of the shepherd taking from the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear is a vivid symbol of pruning away fragments of a false self that cannot survive in the presence of awakened awareness. Exile and return then become the ongoing inward movement from a defended self to a fearless I AM reality. The prophecy is fulfilled as you awaken and rearrange your inner world to reflect wholeness rather than conflict.
Practice This Now
Assume the feeling of the I AM now; visualize your inner land bathed in calm light. See the old fortresses of pride and fear dissolving, and rest in the certainty that you are whole and free.
