The promised punishment is the inward pressure of consciousness applying itself until those states yield. The fire on the wall represents the cleansing energy of awareness that burns away old structures, not to destroy you, but to reconfigure your inner landscape. The cutting off of inhabitants and rulers signifies releasing the controlling beliefs that have claimed sovereignty over your mind. And the remnant perishing points to the old you dissolving as you awaken to your true nature: I AM consciousness itself, underlying every scene. Providence and guidance come as the inner rearrangement of conditions when you stop identifying with the limited self and return to awareness.
