Amos 1:4-5 Inner Fire Awakening

Amos 1:4-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Amos 1 in context

Scripture Focus

4But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.
5I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
Amos 1:4-5

Biblical Context

The verse proclaims divine fire against Damascus, breaking its gates and scattering its people into captivity under the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Amos speaks of a fiery judgment upon Damascus, but the true fire is not a weapon from without; it is the light of awareness you awaken within. The house of Hazael, the palace of Benhadad, and the bar of Damascus are inner conditions you have believed as real—the stubborn identities, fears, and victories you defend as permanent. When the LORD declares, I will send a fire, it is your I AM who calls forth a transformative blaze, burning away outdated designs and leaving the inner city clear for a new reign. The exile foretold is the displacement of a former sense of self, not a hostage camp. As you dwell in the feeling of your desire already fulfilled, you break the barrier that keeps your plain (your ground of being) fixed in negation, and you become the one who holds the sceptre in your own inner Eden. Therefore, the Syria you once knew goes into captivity to Kir in your imagination, and a new harmony moves into your experience as you persist in that inner state.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the state that matches your desire. Feel it as real and dwell in the sensation of power already present.
