Stephen's Inner Angelic Power

Acts 6:8-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Acts 6 in context

Scripture Focus

8And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
12And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
Acts 6:8-15

Biblical Context

Stephen, full of faith and power, performed wonders; opponents disputed his wisdom, but they could not withstand the Spirit by which he spoke; his radiant countenance signaled a higher inner reality at work.

Neville's Inner Vision

What the Acts account reveals is not merely a man performing signs, but a state of consciousness in which you trust the I AM to speak through you. Stephen’s faith and power are inner conditions; the synagogue and the disputing crowd are the restless thoughts that arise when truth presses in. The wisdom by which he spoke is the inner discernment that comes when you stop arguing with appearances and acknowledge the one presence, the I AM, within. The false witnesses are the stories your mind tells about limits and authority; the council is your habitual self-concepts; yet his face, shining like an angel, is the visible symbol of the soil of awareness that cannot be touched by outer slander. In Neville's terms, he did not resist; he assumed a higher reality and the appearance of opposition collapses into light as you rest in the inner truth: you are the I AM, the source, the power. Practice your own revision of self until you can stand under pressure with calm, faith-filled certainty, and miracles will follow in your ordinary days.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly and repeat, 'I am the I AM, full of faith and power.' Visualize a radiant countenance within you speaking with calm wisdom, and feel the inner testimony dissolve outer doubts as if a curtain fell.
