Let the Ship Drive Within
Acts 27:15-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Acts 27 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The text shows a ship caught by the wind, driven, and then steadied by effort and protective measures. It is a plain image of consciousness under pressure, where the outer scene mirrors the inner state and safety comes from a revised mind.
Neville's Inner Vision
To my mind, Acts 27:15-17 is a parable of consciousness. When the ship is caught and cannot bear up into the wind, we let her drive—not surrender to despair, but surrender to the inner movement of awareness. The island of Clauda is a quiet station within where I can gather the crew of belief and lift up the boat of my smaller thoughts. They take up, they undergird the ship: I reinforce my mind with unshakable assumption and the feeling that I am already safe and guided. Fearing the quicksands, they strake sail and are driven. I understand that fear is a mental quicksand, and by changing my state I become the force that sets the course. The salvation is the inner alignment: Providence shows up as my own I AM, guiding the vessel of life through imagination into a future that confirms the end I hold in mind. Perseverance and hope are practiced acts of revision, until the outer scene mirrors the inner victorious resolution.
Practice This Now
Sit quietly, picture Clauda as your inner reference point, and repeat, 'I am guided by the I AM within me.' Feel the courage and safety as if it is already so; then let the imagined end lead your next action.
