Turning Zeal Into Inner Christ

Acts 26:9-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Acts 26 in context

Scripture Focus

9I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
10Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.
11And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.
Acts 26:9-11

Biblical Context

Paul, called Saul, believed it was his duty to oppose the name of Jesus and acted on that belief by imprisoning saints and persecuting them, even to distant cities.

Neville's Inner Vision

Saul's confession that he verily thought with himself reveals a vivid state of mind: a sense of duty to oppose what he calls the name of Jesus. The name stands for the Christ within, and to persecute it is to resist the inner truth of who you are. The external priests and the hungry zeal describe the habitual scripts of thought that claim authority over your mind, imprisoning saints as if they were enemies. When he speaks of punishing them and driving them to blaspheme, you hear the emotional energy of a mind convinced of its correctness, marching into strange cities of belief. Neville would call this a misdirected imagination, a state of consciousness that can be rewritten. The only change required is a new assumption: you are the I AM, and the inner Christ is your governing reality. When you assume that you now align with the truth within, the old zeal dissolves, the judgment softens, and the mind ceases to persecute its own light. The result is a present-tense shift into obedience to the inner law of love.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, place a hand on your chest, and declare: I am the I AM, and I now revise my mind from opposition to the inner Christ, choosing alignment with the Christ within me. Feel that alignment by imagining the old zeal dissolving into peaceful awareness.
