Biblical Context
On the road to Damascus, a brilliant light shines around Paul and his companions. A divine voice speaks, naming Jesus and calling him to rise as a minister and witness of what he has seen and what will be revealed.
Neville's Inner Vision
See this scene as a moment in consciousness, not a distant event. The road to Damascus is the posture of your mind, and midday heat is the stubborn habits you wear. The light that shines beyond the sun is the I AM awakening within you, the awareness that you can no longer ignore. The voice speaking 'I am Jesus whom thou persecutest' is the soul naming its own higher self as the center of action, inviting the old self to yield. When you hear the question 'Who art thou, Lord?' you are learning to recognize the I AM as the source you serve. The answer, 'I am Jesus,' means your highest self has taken form as your present function: you are now called to be a minister and a witness of what you have seen and what will be revealed. Rise and stand, for you are being delivered from old identities and sent to share this light with the world. The inner call becomes outward service as you step into your true vocation.
Practice This Now
Assume the state of the awakened minister now; close your eyes and imagine a radiant light surrounding you on your road, and affirm, 'I am the I AM; I am called to witness.' Throughout the day, revise any resistance by feeling and acting as if you already stand in that role.
