Biblical Context
A guard learns a detail and informs the chief captain to act with care, reminding him that the man in question is a Roman.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within the Acts account, the centurion is not a person but a state of consciousness watching over your outer will. When he hears something that could provoke a harsh move, he reports to the captain and says, Take heed what thou doest, for this man is a Roman. In your inner theatre, the captain is your outward decision, your habit of acting, and the centurion is the awakened awareness that recognizes true identity and stakes a claim for righteous action. The prisoner represents the idea you have mistook for a life apart from you; the claim of Roman status is the inner acknowledgment of your true dignity and legal right in the I AM. Therefore, this moment is a call to align outer behavior with inner law: be mindful, be just, be compassionate toward every situation, and acknowledge who you truly are before you act. If you yield to the inner centurion, you will correct not by external punishment but by revising belief and choosing attitude that harmonizes with truth.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the inner centurion; declare 'I AM awareness guards this moment.' Feel the truth of your I AM guiding every action, and revise any impulse that would lead you away from righteousness.
