Scripture Focus

10And I said, What shall I do, LORD? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
11And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
12And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,
13Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.
14And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.
15For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
Acts 22:10-15

Biblical Context

Paul asks what to do, and is told to arise and go to Damascus where further instruction will be given. Ananias then restores his sight and confirms that he is chosen to know the will, see the Just One, and hear the voice.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within this scene, the question 'What shall I do?' marks a moment when consciousness asks for direction. The command to 'Arise' is not a geographic instruction but a shift of attention—a decision to occupy a new state of awareness. The Damascus of your life is any area where you are called to act in alignment with your deepest intention. The light that blinds Paul is the sudden clarity that makes old sight fail; you are guided by the hands of those with you—the inner disciplines that sustain your movement. Ananias, the devout man who testifies to the truth, stands as your inner suggestion that confirms what your heart has been led to see. The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, see Just One, and hear the voice of his mouth is your inner validation that your vision is real. You are chosen to be a witness unto all men of what you have seen and heard—the natural outcome of a transformation you already endure in your imagination. Step into that witness, and let your external world echo the inward revelation.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit quietly, assume the inner directive is already in effect, and feel the certainty of being led to your Damascus; hear the inner voice declare, 'You are chosen' and step forward as the witness of your own sight.
