Biblical Context
Some from among them taught that you must be circumcised and keep the law; the apostles say they gave no such commandment, and, in one accord, they send Barnabas and Paul to affirm a new path.
Neville's Inner Vision
Note how 'certain ... troubled you' are but a 'subversion of souls' by words, a hint that the outer controversy is an inner misalignment. In Neville's terms, the assembly's decision reflects a state of consciousness that has chosen to identify with a higher authority within—not with the fear-based demands of law. The 'we' and 'one accord' symbolize the I AM in collective form; unity of purpose dissolves fragmentation caused by the insistence that achievement (circumcision, law) be earned by rules. The 'commandment' omitted reveals that no external injunction can yield lasting peace; only alignment with inner truth can. Barnabas and Paul symbolize the two faculties of mind—fidelity (Barnabas) and missionary zeal (Paul)—sent to assert a new living truth: unity and grace supersede ritualistic constraint. The early church is not fighting external doctrine but reorienting the inner covenant toward freedom, faithfulness to the I AM, and the realization that right action flows from consciousness, not tradition. So, when you perceive such inner disturbances, recognize them as subvocal messages challenging your Kingdom within; reaffirm your unity with God and let your acceptance of that truth guide your acts.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Assume you are already in unity with your higher self. Close your eyes, revise any belief that you must comply with a rule outside you, and feel it-real by declaring, I AM, and I choose unity and inner truth.
