Return, Strengthen, Ascend
Acts 14:21-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Acts 14 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Paul and companions revisit their mission, strengthening the disciples and urging perseverance in faith, teaching that tribulation opens the kingdom of God; they then ordain elders and commit the churches to the Lord.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this reading, the Acts passage is not a travelogue but a map of your inner life. When you 'return' to the places you have preached within, you are revisiting your dominant states, reaffirming the convictions you have chosen. The exhortation to persevere in faith and the claim that we must through much tribulation enter the kingdom of God is not about external weather but about the movement of consciousness—trial is the pressure that births clarity. Tribulation becomes the refining fire that burns away doubt and attachment, so the kingdom, which is your innermost I AM, can manifest as lived reality. To 'ordain elders in every church' is to appoint inner authorities—the disciplines of silence, faithful attention, and steady, compassionate belief—that govern your thoughts. 'Praying with fasting' is a turning of attention from outward appearances to the one Power within; it is the practice of fixing awareness on the I AM. When you and your circle are 'commended to the Lord' you acknowledge your trust in the I AM that you are. Then you may discover that you are the Lord of your world, and the kingdom within begins to rise.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume the I AM position and declare, 'I am the kingdom; I am the Lord of this memory.' Visualize appointing an inner elder and fasting from distraction, then feel the peace that follows.
