Biblical Context
God raised Jesus as the promised Saviour for Israel; John the Baptist preached repentance to Israel before Jesus' coming; John also declares he is not the Messiah while pointing to the one who comes after him.
Neville's Inner Vision
In this scriptural moment, the 'seed' of David is not an outward dynasty but your own consciousness, the I AM God inwardly raised as Saviour. When the text says God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus, it is telling you that the promised reality already exists as awareness within you. John’s preaching of repentance is the soul’s call to shift its identification—from lack, fear, and separation to the truth of your unity with the divine Presence. John says, I am not he, but one comes after me—this ‘one’ is your higher state of consciousness, the Christ within that you awaken to when you revise your sense of self. The baptism of repentance is an inner cleansing, a letting go of old stories that you are separate from God. The fulfillment of the promise arrives as you dwell in the present I AM and acknowledge that the Saviour is already here in your awareness, guiding your decisions, forgiving your perceptions, configuring your life to reflect grace. So you do not seek an external Messiah; you become the bearer of the new state, the one that moves after the old self into radiant realization.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Close your eyes and assume the inner Saviour is already present within you; softly repeat 'I AM' until this awareness feels real. Then revise any sense of lack by affirming, 'I am the promised one now,' letting the old self step aside for your higher self to rise.
