The Inner Gate of Presence

Acts 12:13-16 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Acts 12 in context

Scripture Focus

13And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.
14And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
15And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.
16But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.
Acts 12:13-16

Biblical Context

Peter knocks at the gate, signaling awareness seeking entry. Rhoda hears the voice and, in joy, tells others, but they doubt until the door is opened.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville's frame, Peter is the I AM knocking at the gate of your life—awareness insisting on entrance. Rhoda represents the first inward recognition that this truth is speaking within you; the others who deny it are the voice of doubt and habit within the mind. The gate remains shut while you treat the inner vision as a mere rumor. The image of an angel is not the reality, but a projection of your uncertain imagination. Peter's continued knocking embodies the steadfastness of a true state of consciousness; when you persist in accepting the inner sound as real, the outer door yields and the scene outwardly shifts. The miracle is simply the inward state becoming outward fact, as belief aligns with the I AM here now. Presence is not distant but a function of your recognition that God, the I AM, is always within and guiding your life by Providence.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: I AM at the gate of my life, and the gate is open. Feel this Presence as already real, and let the outer door reflect your inner affirmation.
