Biblical Context
The messengers are sent to find Peter in Joppa; Peter, staying with a tanner by the sea, will instruct them in what to do.
Neville's Inner Vision
Let us view this verse as an inner instruction: the rulers of action in you are always ready to obey, when you align with the reality you desire. The 'send men to Joppa' is a naming of your collective thoughts dispatched to fetch the divine teacher within. Peter, whose surname is Peter, stands for the faith that acts; to lodge with a tanner by the sea is to settle the mind where it is cool and calm, open to the stream of living truth. The promise that 'he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do' is your awareness receiving the exact next step from your higher self; no external guide is necessary beyond your own faithful I AM. In this moment, the scene invites you to relinquish doubt and to regard the future as already accomplished in consciousness. When you acknowledge that you already know the right action, your inner Peter speaks through feeling and insight, and the outward world rearranges to mirror that inner conviction.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine a messenger arriving at your inner door from Joppa, bearing Peter’s guidance. Assume you are already aware of the next right step, and feel it as real.
