Biblical Context
In Acts 1:23-26, the disciples seek God’s selection between two candidates through prayer, then cast lots, and Matthias is chosen to join the twelve. The passage shows divine guidance aligning with communal decision.
Neville's Inner Vision
Two names stand before us as inner possibilities. The disciples’ act of praying and asking the Lord to reveal His chosen one is a natural demonstration of turning attention to the I AM within. The two men represent distinct states of consciousness seeking expression: one that would carry the ministry, another perhaps abiding in a different calling. The lot is not mere chance but a symbolic surrender of outer decision to inner knowing. When you engage in prayer, you are aligning with the God within—your own awareness that knows the hearts of all. As you affirm a state you desire to express, you cast your inner lot by feeling that the end is already established. Providence then unfolds in the form that matches your now-established state. In your life, you can become like Matthias by declaring and living from the belief that you are chosen for your unique mission, and thus your daily actions become the evidence of that decision.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine you are already chosen for your sacred task. Feel the certainty as if it has already happened, then move forward today from that settled state.
