Biblical Context
Luke recounts that Jesus began to do and teach, continuing his work after his resurrection. For forty days he appeared to the apostles, teaching about the kingdom of God and giving commandments through the Holy Spirit.
Neville's Inner Vision
Let the former treatise be taken, not as history, but as your current state of consciousness. Jesus began to do and teach in you the moment you accept the I AM as your true self, for the acts and the teachings are the inward patterns you choose to live by. The taken up is your attention turning away from lack and into the risen state of awareness that you are already complete. The Holy Ghost is your own inspired imagination, the inner voice that issues commands through your renewed conviction. When he shows himself alive after the passion, it is your inner proofs—felt experiences that confirm your assumption—that you are indeed in possession of the kingdom. Forty days, a space of patient reinforcement, indicate the time you spend letting the new state take root. And the kingdom of God? It is not a distant realm but your present atmosphere of faith, love, and intelligent action. Hear that Jesus speaks of the kingdom, and answer with your own I AM, here and now, in full authority and peace.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Quietly assume you are already living from the risen state; say inwardly The kingdom of God is within me, and let that certainty settle into your body for a few minutes.
